You should examine the advantages and disadvantages of online group working,
illustrating it with your own experience. (250 words)
Advantages
I was able to think about my response and take time to compile an answer.
This enabled me to plan what I wanted to say and make my response as good
as possible. Usually I would not contribute to a conference because I am
softly spoken and find it difficult to be heard over other people. With online
learning I can participate because I do not have to speak.
I can participate when it suits me. This allows me to learn in the comfort
of my own home in my own time, at any time of day. If I had to attend a class
I would need to take time off work. This way of learning has enabled me to
attain qualifications while still working.
Disadvantages
Trying to get something accomplished within a time limit is very difficult
when you cannot contact the person you are dealing with. Online conferencing
means you need to wait for the other people’s responses and if other responses
do not appear, what do you do?
It is easy to miss a conference when you do not know the correct time and
place. I nearly missed a conference for an assignment as I hadn't read the
course material properly, but luckily I caught it just in time and made a
contribution
.
