Module 3 Review

You should select an exercise from Module 3 that demonstrates how you developed your understanding of e-business concepts. You should provide the completed exercise as evidence. On your page you should state what the objectives of the exercise were, what you learnt from it, and how you might apply the understanding that you developed in this exercise in your future use of the Internet. (250 words)

My selected exercise from Module 3, to demonstrate how I developed my understanding of e-business concepts is exercise 4.6 Developing a Concept Proposal. The objectives of this exercise were to 'develop an appreciation of the different aspects of operating an online organization', 'apply what I have learned about online businesses from the websites I have evaluated, and 'consolidate the material I have covered in the module'.

I learned from this exercise the differences between online and traditional businesses and what affects each has on the other. While a traditional shop is not as convenient as ordering online from your armchair, the social interaction the 'shopping experience' can offer is very enjoyable. Some products are more suited to being sold online than others and by using the ES test, products can be tested for online suitability.

I may apply the understanding I have developed in this exercise in my future use of the Internet by thinking more clearly about shopping on the Internet. I will think about whether the product I am buying would be more suited to being bought at a shop and if I am likely to recieve any after sales care once I have purchased my product on the Internet. I will consider if my purchase would be made more enjoyable if I were to purchase it in the towns’ shops and I will consider the empty shop spaces in our local centre and if they came about because an online business put them out of business.
